❓ HOW IT WORKS

🤝 What is MyNjanGi?

A rotating savings group (tontine) where every member contributes the same amount each round, and one member collects the full pot. The group runs in sessions — typically one round per month until everyone has collected once. The app also manages a group treasury for penalties, loans, donations and savings.

🚀 STEP-BY-STEP SETUP

Settings first — Tap ⚙️ SET and fill in group name, session name, currency, contribution amount, penalty amount, and loan interest rate.

Add Members — Go to Members tab. Add each person with name, phone, WhatsApp number, 6-digit PIN and position. Set status to ✅ Active if joining this session.

Run Ballot — Tap 🎲 RUN BALLOT in the Members tab. Set the session period (e.g. Jan → Dec 2025), draw randomly or assign manually, then confirm. All rounds are created automatically.

Record Contributions — After each meeting, go to Contributions and log each member's payment. Mark as Paid, Late, Partial or Unpaid. Late payments automatically add a penalty entry to the Treasury.

Close Round & Send Congrats — After all contributions are recorded, tap ✅ CLOSE ROUND in the Rounds tab. A WhatsApp congratulations message is generated showing each contributor's name and amount.

Manage Treasury — Use the 🏦 Treasury tab to record voluntary savings, loans given to members or others, donations, and group expenses. Open loans are tracked with repayment history and running balances.

Close Session — When all members have collected, go to Home → 🗂️ Close Session. Review the treasury stocktake, then archive. Open loans and the treasury balance carry forward automatically to the next session.

🔄 ROUND LIFECYCLE

⏳ Upcoming — Round is scheduled but not yet active. Tap ▶️ OPEN THIS ROUND to activate it.

🟣 Active — Current round. Record contributions here. Tap ✅ CLOSE ROUND when done — this generates the congrats message and auto-opens the next round.

✅ Completed — Round archived. Tap 📤 RESEND CONGRATS to send the message again.

💡 Only one round can be active at a time. Closing a round auto-activates the next upcoming one.

🏦 TREASURY

➕ Income — Voluntary savings, loan interest repaid, loan repayments, other income. Penalties are added automatically when you record a late contribution.

➖ Outgoing — Loans given, donations, group expenses, withdrawals, savings interest paid out to members.

🤝 Loans — Each loan is tracked with borrower name, principal, interest rate and full repayment history. Balance updates automatically after each repayment.

🤲 Voluntary Savings — Members can deposit money into the group treasury as savings. These are tracked per member and earn interest at end of round.

📋 Session Stocktake — Full breakdown of income vs outgoing for the session, with balance to carry forward. Open loans show a warning before closing.

💡 When a session closes, open loans and the treasury balance carry forward automatically.

📐 INTEREST CALCULATION

💹 Loan Interest

Calculated using simple interest. Two periods available — set in ⚙️ Settings:

📅 Monthly: Principal × Rate% × Number of months

📆 Annual: Principal × Rate% × 1 year

Example: FCFA 200,000 borrowed at 10% for 6 months
= 200,000 × 10% × 6 = FCFA 20,000 interest

🏦 Savings Interest — Option 1: Simple Interest

Each member earns interest directly on their savings balance.

📐 Formula: Savings × Rate% × (Months ÷ 12)

Example: FCFA 100,000 saved at 5% for 8 months
= 100,000 × 5% × (8÷12) = FCFA 3,333 interest

🏦 Savings Interest — Option 2: Profit Sharing

The group's loan interest earnings are shared among savers after deducting overhead costs. Each member gets a share proportional to how much they saved and for how long.

Step 1 — Total loan interest collected from all borrowers

Step 2 — Deduct overhead % (admin costs)

Step 3 — Distributable profit = Step 1 − Step 2

Step 4 — Rate = (Distributable profit ÷ Total savings) × 100

Step 5 — Member interest = Savings × Rate% × (Months ÷ 12)

Example:
Loan interest collected: FCFA 500,000
Overhead (10%): − FCFA 50,000
Distributable profit: FCFA 450,000
Total savings: FCFA 3,000,000
Effective rate: 450,000 ÷ 3,000,000 × 100 = 15%
Marie saved 200,000 for 8 months:
= 200,000 × 15% × (8÷12) = FCFA 20,000 interest

💡 How to use: Go to 🏦 Treasury tab → scroll to 📐 Interest Calculator. The app calculates everything automatically. Review the figures, then tap ✅ RECORD & CLOSE ROUND INTEREST to save the results into the treasury.

👥 MEMBER STATUSES

✅ Active — Participating this session. Included in ballot and rounds.

⏸️ Inactive — Sitting out this session. Excluded from ballot. History preserved. Can be reactivated anytime.

✅ Collected — Member has already received their pot this session. Set automatically when their round is closed.

🔐 ROLES & PINS

👑 Leader — Full access. Add/edit members, run ballot, record contributions, manage treasury, send reminders, close sessions. Default PIN: 1234 (change in Settings).

👤 Members — Read-only view of all tabs including Treasury. Each member logs in with their own 6-digit PIN set by the leader.

👥 Members — Active / yet-to-collect / inactive members, collection status, ballot button.

💡 TIPS

• Set your Session Name in Settings — it appears on the Treasury stocktake header.

• In ⚙️ Settings, choose your loan interest period (monthly or annual), your savings interest model (simple or profit sharing), and overhead % before calculating interest.

• New member joins mid-session? Add them, set Active, edit the ballot from the Rounds tab.

• Member sitting out? Set them Inactive before running the ballot.

• Two members collecting same month? Enable "Two Collectors" when editing a round.

• Before closing a session, check the Treasury stocktake — it warns you if any loans are still open.

• Open loans and the treasury balance carry forward automatically to the next session.

• Collected on Home only counts active and completed rounds — not upcoming ones.

• Reminder banner appears automatically 5 days before a meeting date.

• Use the theme switcher in Settings: 🌑 Dark · 🌒 Dim · 🌓 Warm · 🌕 Light.

• All data syncs to the cloud. Works offline and syncs when back online.
